Description

Illustration of Southerne's adaptation of Behn's Oroonoko: or the Royal Slave. Oroonoko stands with his right arm outstretched pointing down to draw Imoinda's attention to the dead Aboan on the ground. Imoinda bends slightly to look while touching Oroonoko's cape with her left hand. Framing the image, which is atop a pedestal, is a bricked background. A banner atop is decorated with a whip, chains and tropical foliage.
